Ashura Vs Victory Day: Which Side Will You Take?

[Some time back I came back home crossing “Shaheed Minar” and remember that the approaching day is 16th December which is the victory day of Bangladesh. Also the day coming with the night running is the day of 10th Muharram which is a significant day to Muslim. So I thought I should write my feelings and necessary comment on the day. This is a quick writing. So their might many errors. Please correct me.]

16th December became significant to many Bangladeshi since Bangladesh got victory against Pakistan in civil war took place in 1971. So this day became a day for celebration to Bangladeshi people. And the day of Ashura is significant to Muslim around the globe because it is one of the best days in Islamic calendar.

Muharram is a sacred month which is a blessed and important month for the Muslims. It is the first month of the Hijri calendar, and is one of the four sacred months concerning which Allah (swt) says in Surah al-Tawbah:

“Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so it was ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them, four are sacred. That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein…” [TMQ al-Tawbah: 36]

In this ayah, Allah says, “so wrong not yourselves therein…” means do not wrong yourselves in these sacred months, because sin in these months is worse than in other months.

It was narrated by al-Bukhari (2958) that Abu Bakrah (ra) reported that the Prophet (saw) said: “The year is twelve months of which four are sacred, the three consecutive months of Dhu’l-Qa’dah, Dhu’ l-Hijjah and Muharram, and Rajab Mudar which comes between Jumaadil-akir and Sha’ baan.”

So let us see how Islam views the celebration of a national day and Celebration of Ashura.

Nationalism is Haram

Celebrating national days are Haram since nationalism is Haram. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “He is not one of us who calls for ‘asabiyyah, (nationalism) or who fights for ‘asabiyyah or who dies for ‘asabiyyah.” [Abu Dawud]

Allah (swt) has created us in many nations so that we recognise each other and He had forbid nationalism. He ordered Muslim to be together and He made unity an obligation. Allah (swt) said: “Verily the believers are a brotherhood”.

And, “And hold fast all together by the rope which Allah and be not divided among yourselves” [TMQ Al-Imran 3:103]

So celebrating days based on nationalism is completely forbidden in Islam. This celebration is the celebration of kuffar. Muslim are bonded by our Aqeeda and we are not allowed to bind with fake low level bond like nationalism. Nationalism bind some people but divide from rest. Celebrating days of kuffar by imitating them is also Haram. Al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih that Abu Saeed Al-Khudri (ra) reported that Allah’s Messenger (saw) said, “You will indeed follow the ways of those before you, hand span by hand span, and cubit by cubit even if they were to enter into a lizards hole, you will follow them.” We asked ‘is it the Jews and the Christians?’ He (saw) replied, “Who else!” This Hadith condemns imitating them. It is a proof for the prohibitions of imitating the Jews and the Christians in their occasions, symbols, or any matter related to their belief and action. At-Tirmidhi narrated that Ibn Abbas (ra) reported that the Prophet (saw) said: “He is not one of us who imitates other than us. Do not imitate the Jews or the Christians.” At-Tabarani and Abu Dawood narrated that Ibn Umar and Hudthayfah (ra) reported that the Prophet (saw) said: “Whoever imitates a people, he is one of them.”

Therefore celebrating days based on the border drawn by the kuffar is not a valid celebration for Muslim.

Eid is our Celebration

Many Muslim started celebrating Ashura though is not a day of celebration. Also it is proved earlier that the celebration based on nationalism is not permissible for us. There are many Islamic evidences that forbid the Muslims from having holidays other than Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adhaa. Al-Baihaqi reported in his Sunan that Anas Bin Malik (ra) said: When the Prophet (saaws) came to Medina, the people had two holidays from the days of Jahiliyyah. He (saw) said: “When I came to you, you had two days which you used to celebrate in Jahiliyyah. Allah has replaced them for you with better days, the days of slaughter (Adhaa) and the day of Fitr.” Also Imam Ahmad in his Musnad reported that Uqbah bin Amir (ra) reported the Prophet (saw) to have said: “The day of Fitr and days of Tashriq are our holidays, the people of Islam.”

These evidences are clear in forbidding the Muslims to have any Eid other than what Allah (swt) prescribed for them. Thus, they are not allowed to participate in or celebrate the holidays of the Kuffar and nor are they allowed to attend them, even if invited.

New form of Shirk

When Prophet (saw) came down with Islam people were involve in Shirk. They used to worship many gods like Lat, Uzzat, Manat. Now people started shirk in new form. Now people the prostrating infont of ‘Shaeed Mondir’ and ‘Sriti Shoudho’ and also worshiping gods like nationalism and democracy. Is action takes place in Shaheed Minar is not similar to the action takes place in temples? This is nothing but a new form of worship of Mushrikeen.

Ashura, Day of Ibadah

Ashura is a day of Ibadah to the Muslim. In these days of Muharram the Prophet (saw) recommended for us to fast on the 9th and the 10th of this month.

Al-Bukhari narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas (ra) who said: “The Prophet (saw) came to Madinah and saw the Jews fasting on the day of ‘Ashoora’. He said, ‘What is this?’ They said, ‘This is a righteous day, it is the day when Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemies, so Musa fasted on this day.’ He said, ‘We have more right to Musa than you,’ so he fasted on that day and commanded [the Muslims] to fast on that day.” [Bukhari, Hadith No: 1865].In a report narrated by Imam Muslim, that the Jews said, “This is a great day, on which Allah saved Musa and his people, and drowned Pharaoh and his people.”Muslim also reported that, “Musa fasted on this day in thanksgiving to Allah, so we fast on this day.”

Mu'awiyah ibn Abu Sufyan relates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say, "It is the day of 'Ashoora. Allah (swt) has not made fasting obligatory for you. But I am fasting. He who likes to observe fast among you should do so, and he who likes not to observe it (does not have to) observe it." [Sahih Muslim] Abu Qatada (ra) relates that the Holy Prophet (saw) said that, “the fast on the 10th of Muharram atones for the sins of the preceding year.” [Sahih Muslim] Abu Huraira (ra) reports that the Holy Prophet (ra) said, “after Ramadan, the fasts of Muharram have the greatest excellence.” [Sahih Muslim] In addition to the keeping of the fast on the 10th of Muharram we should also aim to fast on the 9th as well as stipulated in the following ahadith: Ibn Abbas (ra) relates that when the Holy Prophet (saw) said, "If I survive till next year, I will definitely observe fast on the 9th of Muharram (as well)." [Sahih Muslim] Hakam ibn Al-Arat (ra) relates: I went to Ibn Abbas (ra). I said to him: Tell me about fasting on 'Ashura. He said, "When you seen the new moon of Muharram count the (days) and (begin to) observe fast on the 9th." I said to him: "Is it how the Messenger of Allah (saw) observed the fast?" He said, "Yes." [Sahih Muslim]

Significant events in Ashura

Many significant historical events took place in the day of Ashura. In this day, beloved grandson of Prophet (saw) was died. The soil of Karbala was dawned by the holy blood of Hussain with 72 innocent lives. Abbas and five other brothers of Imam Hussein (ra), Ali Akbar – the son of Hussein, much of his family, his six months old baby - his youngest son (Ali Asghar) were killed brutally in this day.

Hussain died because he spoke against the transgression and oppression of Yazid. Now soil of Karbala dawned by the blood of Iraqi people. Where is Hussain today?

These days also remind us of the story of Musa (as) and his struggle against the Firawn. Story of Musa (as) is a great story that Allah (swt) related to us in the Quran.

Allah (swt) told us of how the Firawn oppressed the people, how Firawn broke the people into sections depressing a small group among them, how Firawn killed the new born sons of the people and how he ruled the people with his tyranny and oppression.

Allah almighty grew up Musa in the house of Firawn to liberate the people from this tyranny and oppression. When Musa (as) grew up he stood against Firawn and challenged his corruption and tyranny, he led the Children of Israel (Bani Israel) against the Firawn and made them disbelieve in him and his tyranny. Firawn believed he was a god and that he had the power of life and death in his hands.

Today we have many modern day Firawn’s, many Musrifeen (transgressors) and tyrants. Today Obama and his America is one of these modern day Pharaoh’s. We know America thinks it is the God of this world, how it bombed the Muslims in Iraq, how it bombed the Muslims in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Sudan in the past for no reason and how it continues to impose it’s policies all over the Islamic lands. America is not the only Firawn in this world today, America has many assistants in the world as Firawn had his assistants like Haman.

Today the rulers in the Muslim world are these assistants and Firawn’s who carve up the people as Firawn did and oppress them as Firawn did and kill them as Firawn did.

Today although there are many tyrannical agents of Firawn and the side of Baatil (falsehood) is clear, we must realise that the side of Haq (truth) is also clear and gaining momentum. The people on the side of truth, carrying the call of liberation from the rules of man to the rule of Allah (swt), from darkness of the Firawn’s to the light of the Khilafah, even if they face all types of persecutions and hardship in the pursuit of this.

Musa (as) liberated the Children of Israel from the Firawn, we to need to liberate the Muslim Ummah from the oppression of Capitalism and drown modern days Firawn. The method to achieve this is taken from the well known Hadith,

"Banu Israel used to be looked after by the Prophets; when one Prophet died, another one would succeed him, and there will be no more Prophets after me. There will be Khulafah and they will number many."

Today in our pursuit of re-establishing the Khilafah to dethrone the Firawn’s of this world we must rely on Allah (swt) alone, He is As-Samee’a, Al-Mujeeb.

In conclusion, today day of Ashura and lesson we learn from this day is to participate in struggle of liberating people from the darkness. Today’s, greatest darkness is capitalism and its various tools to make people fool. Raising nationalistic sensation is a great tool kuffar apply on Muslim. They follow their mechanism ‘divide and rule’. We have to be aware of their plans and stood against them like the Musa (as) and Imam Hussain (R) stood against oppression. We should not fall in their trap and get involve in Shirk. Rather we should have faith in Allah and work for our real unity. We should work for re-establishment of Khilafah.

May Allah accept us; guide us in write and save us from the deception of devil. Ameen

Ramadan- Month of Revealing the True Constitution

“Verily, We have sent it down in the Night of Al-Qadr. And what will make you know what the Night of Al-Qadr is. The Night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. Therein descend the angels and the Ruh by their Lord's permission with every matter. There is peace until the appearance of dawn.”
[TMQ Al-Qadr]

Allah (SWT) revealed his words Quran to guide the humanity. This final revelation was down all at one time from the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz) to the House of Might (Baytul-`Izzah), which is in the heaven of this world. Then it came down in parts to the Messenger of Allah based upon the incidents that occurred over a period of twenty-three years. This glorious incident occurred in the Laylat al-Qadr (Night of power). Ulema agreed upon on the matter that Laylat al-Qadr is in the last ten days of Ramadan. Night of Qadr is most superior of nights over a year and which is better than thousands months. So there is no doubt that the Ramadan is the holiest month is sight of Allah since in it the best of nights are present. Also, in this month were revealed the scriptures of Ibrahim (as) and Musa (as), as well as the Zabuur and the Injeel. During this month gates of Mercy are wide open, the gates of hell are shut and the Shayateen are chained up. It is a month chosen by Allah (SWT) as a month of fasting; an act of Ibadat that Allah (SWT) made special to Him. He (SWT) favoured this month over all other months by making it the month of mercy and reverence for all the believers.

The Futile Debate Created by the Imperialists and Their Agents in This Holy Month

When people of Bangladesh made preparation to embrace the holiest month, there arose a futile debate by the so called constitution review committee of Bangladesh. The ruling elite have started this baseless debate which is about the constitution of the country and it’s amendment. There arose two parts on this drama as usual. On the one side of the debate is the governing camp advocating the restoration of the 1972 constitution and on the other side is the camp of the opposition advocating the retention of the Fifth Amendment.

However what good is there for the country whether we restore the 1972 constitution or retain the Fifth Amendment? The 1972 constitution was drafted by agents of the polytheist state, India, in order to shape the political medium of the country in such a way as to serve her interests. The Fifth Amendment was a move by agents of crusader America in order to re-organize the political set up and establish her foothold in the country. Therefore the current debate is futile and has nothing to do with the wellbeing of the Ummah. This debate has been created by the imperialists, USA-Britain-India, and their agents in the government and the opposition to prevent the people from resuming the living by Islam.

The truth of the matter is that both the 1972 constitution and the Fifth Amendment contradict the fundamental basis of Islam because they are agreed upon the core principle of granting man the sovereignty to legislate laws according to the whims and desires of the rulers, and what achieves their selfish benefit. Islam does not allow the Muslims to adopt a constitution which confers authority upon man to legislate, whether it declares secularism as the basis as in the case of the 1972 constitution or it begins with the Bismillah and expresses ‘complete faith and trust in Almighty Allah’ as inserted by the Fifth Amendment. It is all the same whether the one who drinks alcohol in a bar does so without saying the Bismillah; or he enters the bar expressing his faith and trust in Allah, and drinks by saying Bismillah. Islam considers legislation by man as ascribing partners to Allah (SWT) and this is an unforgivable crime whether it is done by the majority in a so-called democratic parliament, or by a dictator, autocrat or monarch. Allah Said:

“The command is for none but Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him; that is the (true) straight religion, but most men know not.” [TMQ Yusuf: 40]

Allah (SWT) obliged upon the Muslims that their state must be based upon the Islamic Aqeedah and this is the Khilafah state. So participating on this futile debate will be a loss for Ummah since this debate happening on wrong ground and it will establish the kufr constitution at the end. Debate on saying bismillah before drinking alcohol rather than a debate on permissibility of drinking alcohol, will allow drinking alcohol. Similarly debate on both kufr constitutions will allow one of the kufr constitutions at the end. It is more dangerous because keeping bismillah in the constitution and declaring belief in Allah without implementing it will make Ummah more confuse. Ummah will start thinking that the current constitution is Islamic or more Islamic though in reality this is another face of kufr.

Constitution and Sources of Constitution

It is a fact that people of Bangladesh don’t understand what a constitution is. So it is important to understand the definition of constitution and its nature in a simple way. In simple words, the basic law for every government is called a constitution. The term constitution has been defined as the canon which outlines the shape of the state and its ruling system, and explains the limits and functions of every authority vested in it, or the canon which organises public authority, i.e. the government, defines its relationship with its subjects, and assigns both the State's rights and duties towards the subjects and the subject's duties and rights towards the State. Since the constitution is the principle by which a government governs its people, it is essential for running a state. Every civilized nation in this world has a constitution.

Constitutions and canons are taken from two sources. The first being the source from which they directly originate, such as norms, religion, the opinions of jurists, court precedents and the principles of justice and equity. This is known as the legislative source. . Examples of this type of constitution are some of the Western states like Britain and America. The second is a historical source, i.e. the source from which the constitution or canon emerges or is taken, like the French Constitution and the constitutions of some of the states in the Islamic world, like Turkey, Egypt and Syria.

Quran is Our Constitution and it is from Correct Source

Allah (SWT) revealed Quran as our constitution. He (SWT) said:

“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and Al-Furqan (criterion).” [TMQ-Al-Baqarah: 185]

Definition of constitution fits with this verse. Here Allah (SWT) is explaining that the Allah revealed Quran as the principles and guidelines of human action from personal life to state life. It is the book which is only criterion between good and bad i.e. through Quran Allah (SWT) only legislate. His is the legislator and his legislation was revealed in the Quran to Mohammad (SAW).

It is an obligation upon the Muslim Ummah to establish the Islamic Aqeedah is the basis of conducting the Ummah’s affairs. The Islamic Aqeedah must be the basis of the Ummah’s state and its constitution; and all laws and rules must be derived from the Qur’an and Sunnah. Allah (SWT) has declared it to be a negation of Iman if the basis of the Ummah’s constitution, ruling and judiciary is other than ‘La ilaha illAllah, Muhammadur RasulAllah (SAW).’Allah (SWT) said:

“But no, by your Lord, they can have no Iman, until they make you judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept with full submission.” [TMQ An-Nisa: 65]

It is proven beyond doubt that the Quran is from the ultimate creator Allah (SWT). So it is the only correct source of a constitution which is free from error. Is the Quran the criterion (Furqan) upon which we base our actions whether it is our prayers, relationship with our parents, Societal relationship, financial transactions,, insurance, stock market shares, nationalism, tribalism, backbiting, slander, pornography, engaging in da’wah, working for the unity of the Muslims and re-establishment of the Quran as the source of law in the Muslim world through the establishment of an Islamic government? There is no doubt that the Quran is able to solve all these problems ranging from spiritual problem to economic and political problems. By the implementation of Quran Islamic State (Khilafah) became the most powerful nation in the world and her superiority lasted over 1300 years.

Does Quran Have the Impact on Us?

Aisha (RA) described the Prophet’s (SAW) character as being the walking Quran. We are his follower. Are we in our characters like the Quran? Do we feel the weight of the Quran on our shoulders like the companions of the prophet? Today in Ramadan we have competition on recitation of Quran. But do we understand, practice and implement the Quran in our lives? Mu’ad ibn Jabal (RA) once called the people of the town describe of our time probably:

“Today the reciters of Quran are few but the implementers are many, what of the time when the reciters will be many and the implementers will be few.”

During the life of prophet (SAW) there were few Muslim but they used to implement the Quran completely. Now we have over one and half billion Muslims among them many are reciters but the implementers are few. Is Quran has the impact on our souls. Let us look at the impact that this Quran had on the Sahabah and the Muslims in the past; it is known that some of the Sahabah when hearing a verse of the Quran would faint.

How sahaba had effect of Quran on them can be understood by listening to their stories. In the early days of Islam, Muslims were few in number and oppressed. That time, the companions of the prophet decided to recite the Quran openly and loudly in front of the Quraysh. Young boy Abdullah ibn Masud (RA) wanted to do it but the companions were afraid for him that he might be oppressed. Abdullah ibn Masud insisted so he was allowed. He then went out and stood near Maqam Ibrahim (a few meters from the Kabah). It was dawn and the Quraysh were sitting around the Kabah. Abdullah stopped at the Maqam and began to recite:

“In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful). He has taught the Quran. He has created man and taught him the clear speech….” [TMQ Ar-Rahman: 1..]

He went on reciting. The Quraysh realized Abdullah was reciting some of what Muhammad (SAW) brought. Then they went up to him and began beating his face as he continued reciting. When he went back to his companions the blood was flowing from his face. "This is what we feared for you," they said. "By Allah," replied Abdullah, "the enemies of Allah are not more comfortable than I at this moment. If you wish I shall go out tomorrow and do the same."

This is how the Abdullah ibn Masud (RA) was beaten for reciting Quran. He was reciting some simple verses yet the unbelievers decided to hit him. But we get praising words from the kuffar. This is because Sahaba challenged the kufr system and their leaders. So they recited: “Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab and perish he!” but we pray for the traitor rulers like Zardari, Mubarak, Hasina, Khaleda and recite “O Allah! Protect them”. Shahaba wanted to change Kufr System into Islamic system but how many of us want it?

Another example can be women of Madina. When the verses of hizab were revealed, the women in Madina took their curtains and covered them up immediately to fulfil the obligation. But today, in this month of Quran, step for banning hizab is taken in Bangladesh. Recently Bangladesh High Court willingly has given a verdict that the hizab cannot be forced. We do not question even, women made naked forcefully in this country but can’t they be made wearing hizab? Did we ask question, why should hijab be banned while Allah made it obligatory? Women in Madina did not even wait a moment when they heard hizab was obliged. Why do we make excuse?

The companions of Prophets (SAW) were driven by spirit of Islam. Quran had the greatest impact on them. We should be driven by the same spirit and work for the implementation of Quran throughout the globe. The implementation of the Quran is what the world is in need of today. Implementing the Quran doesn’t just mean reciting it beautifully rather it mean practice the hukm of Allah in life affairs. We Muslim should look at the oppression in every place, in Iraq, Palestine, Kashmir, in West where millions of people living in poverty and addicted to drugs, alcohol, etc, in India women are treated as slaves and country is in poverty and the rich are getting richer, in Bangladesh corruption is rampant and many girls committing suicide for the sexual assault. If we have the same impact of Quran sahaba had we will be able to solve human problems shortly.

Let us Establish Quran

There is no doubt that the Quran is our constitution. Quran demands to the Muslims to establish the Islamic constitution and the Khilafah state to remove injustice from this earth. However we should not be vague in stating like ‘the Quran is the Constitution’ without remarking Islamic system properly. We should define all our action from Quran and Sunnah. Therefore a constitution from Quran and Sunnah should be prepared to run the upcoming state ‘Khilafah’ from the first moment. We should feel the weight and burden of Quran and must work to establish it on all our actions from personal to international. We should not be fooled by imperialists and participate in a debate prepared by them. Rather we should understand the situation and demand for the Islamic system. Allah Said:

“Had We sent down this Quran on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and split asunder (crumbling) by the fear of Allah. Such are the parables that We put forward to mankind that they may reflect.” [TMQ - Al-Hashr: 21]

Allah (SWT) is saying that if He had sent the Quran upon a mountain, imagine the size and magnitude of a mountain, the mountain would split asunder by the fear of Allah and from humbling itself. We are not as strong as mountain but Quran revealed on us. We should have become smooth particles from humbling ourselves.

Let us understand the Quran and became smooth particles. Let us establish the Quran. May Allah give us opportunity to work for Quran. Ameen.

To Finance Minister: How to Create Monopoly Free Market?

The Finance Minister of Bangladesh, Abul Mal Abdul Muhit recently said in a seminar that the Bangladeshi market of daily commodities is controlled by syndicates who are involve in monopoly business and rising price as they wish. Finance minister accepted that the government does not have any control over market. It is a fact that because of their monopoly people are suffering as they don’t have capacity to buy things because of poverty. Finance minister demanded advice and opinion from people to stop monopoly of the syndicates. So let us understand nature of monopoly and way to stop it.

What is monopoly system?

Monopoly economic market is a market in which there are many buyers but only one seller or a group of sellers making syndicate who have exclusive control or possession over market. The monopolist is the one who hoards the commodities until the price rises so as to sell them expensively such that it becomes difficult for the citizens to buy them. Monopolist creates artificial crisis and then sell the goods expensively. As for the condition of monopoly that it should reach a limit at which it becomes difficult for the citizens to buy the monopolised commodity. This is because the reality of the monopoly is not conceived to happen except in such a situation. If it did not become difficult for the people to buy the commodity then it would not have been gathered or held back to be sold expensively. Therefore, the condition of the monopoly is not only to purchase the commodity; rather it is gathering it and waiting for its price to rise so as to sell it expensively. This applies whether the monopolist compiled it through purchase or from the harvest of his large land because he is the only person to plant such type of harvest, or he compiled it from his factories, as the sole manufacturer. Capitalist monopolise manufacturing a certain thing by eliminating other factories, create shortage in this type of industry and thereby monopolise the market.

Reason behind Monopoly

Capitalism (the system which is adopted in Bangladesh) emphasis on production and capitalist do not think of distribution of wealth. They consider price as the incentive for production and only regulator for distributing wealth amongst the members of society. According to capitalists, the price is the only constraint that forces the consumer in his possession and consumption to accept a limit comparable to his income, and it is the price which restricts the consumption of every individual in acceptance to what his revenues permit. Accordingly, through the rise in price of some goods and drop in the price of others, and in the availability of money to some people and its non-availability to others, the price regulates the distribution of wealth amongst consumers. Thus, every individual’s share of the wealth of a country is not equal to his basic needs, but is equal to the value of the services in which he has contributed in producing commodities and services i.e. equal to what he owns of land or capital. From this principle, which makes the price the regulator of distribution, Capitalism has effectively decided that man does not deserve life unless he is capable of contributing to the production of commodities and services. The person who is incapable of contributing, whether he was born with a physical or mental disability, does not deserve life, and does not deserve to take from the wealth that which satisfies his needs. Also the person who was born strong in body or in mind, and who is more capable of creating and possessing wealth however he wishes, deserves to consume luxuriously and deserves to practice control over others with his wealth. Also the one whose motivation to seek material gains is stronger will exceed others in possessing wealth whereas, the one whose adherence to spiritual and moral values (which control him during the earning of wealth) is stronger, will have less than others in possessions or wealth. This approach excludes the spiritual and moral elements from life and produces a life built upon a materialistic struggle to gain the means of satisfying materialistic needs. Thus money (price) becomes most important matter on Capitalism because it is the regulator of distribution of wealth. Because of their weak understanding of distribution, people spend their effort to earn money anyhow without thinking of morality. This system also allows few stronger people to be rich and majority struggling to survive. Thus in capitalism, rich become richer and poor become poorer. This eventually occurs in all countries which adopt and apply Capitalism.

In a country adopting Capitalism, monopolies has developed because a small group of people i.e. the owners of large oil, automotive, and heavy industry corporations, have come to dominate consumers, reigning over them by imposing certain prices for the commodities they produce. The concept of freedom of ownership which is the core concept behind capitalist economy along with the concept of making the price the only mechanism for distributing wealth, has resulted poor distribution of commodities and services. It has caused Capitalist monopolies in the West to look abroad to other countries for new markets, from which to gain raw materials and to sell their products. As a result, world especially third world suffers from colonisation, economic invasion and regional influence. Thus, the resources of the world are accumulated on this basis into the hands of Capitalist monopolies. All this is due to the false rules and principles established by Capitalism.

Solution to Monopoly

After understanding nature of monopoly, anyone can easily comprehend that Capitalism is the reason for monopoly and syndicate. Capitalism allows a group of powerful people to come together during business and fix prices as they wish because they only have commodities in their hand. Therefore, to stop monopoly, it is important to adopt a good distribution system of wealth. Wealth should not be accumulated in few hands because if few people hold wealth they can create syndicate easily. Good distribution system of wealth will create balance of wealthy people. In such situation creating syndicate is impossible and monopoly does not occur. Even than if anybody tries to monopolies, government must stop him by the force. So, by implementing Capitalism which is devoid of spirituality and morality, it is impossible to keep monopoly free market since capitalism protect interest of capitalists who monopolies the market. Only existing way to stop monopoly is to implement Islamic economic system. Islamic economic system will ensure distribution of wealth as Islam forbid holding of wealth by few and oblige circulation of wealth.

Monopoly is prohibited (Haram) absolutely in Islam without a difference between commodities whether it be people’s necessities or luxuries. It is forbidden in Sharia due to the decisive prohibition of it that came explicitly in various Ahadith. S’aid ibn Al-Musayyab narrated from Mu’ammar ibn Abdullah Al-‘Adawi in Bukhari that the Prophet said: “No one monopolises except the wrongdoer.” Al-Athram narrated from Abu Umamah, he said: “The Messenger of Allah (saw) forbade that a foodstuff be monopolised”. And Muslim narrated through his chain of narrators from S’aid ibn Al-Musayyab that Mu’ammar said: “The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “Whoever monopolised is a wrongdoer.” The monopolist describes as a wrongdoer i.e. disobedient. The dispraising in the Hadith by the prophet (saw) indicates that this prohibition is decisive. Thereupon, the Ahadith indicated that monopoly is Haram.

The reality of the monopolist is that he monopolises the market; and imposes upon people whatever price he likes by holding the commodity as a monopoly, so people will be forced to buy it from him at a high price, for it is not available other than to him. Thus the monopolist in fact wants to increase the price for the Muslims, a matter which is Haram, due to what was narrated from Ma’akal ibn Yasar, that he said that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “Whosoever was involved in any of the prices of the Muslims, so as to increase it for them it would be due on Allah to place him in a great fire at the Day of Judgement.”

Hence, Islamic system will prevent monopoly and will punish those who monopolies. But, a comprehensive and radical Islamic system must be implemented to solve our problems. If Islamic economic system implemented without its basic creed will never work.

Will Finance Minister Listen?

The advice and opinion from an aware citizen to finance minister of Bangladesh is that for solving all our problems, implement Islamic way of life by implementing Khilafah. Islam is the only true system from our creator can be rationally proved that can solve our practical problems. But our rulers have allergy on Islam and hatred for Islam can be seen in their activities. Abul Mal is a minister of government lead by Awami League and Awami League, being a secular political party always found to be anti Islam. Their recent torturing on mass people and Islamic parties made them one of the harshest regimes in history. Awami League by born fond of fascism and they don’t want to tolerate any opinion other than theirs. Mr. Abul Mal while you were talking of monopoly and syndicate, trade minister Faruq Khan was beside you and it is well known that his people are involved in such activities. Do not try to make people fool by speaking nice, stop your own people from doing such activity first. Will finance minister Abul Mal listen to the advice and opinion given by us? Provably he will order his force to find me and torture me for exposing reason of monopoly and giving proper solution.
